Kent Sands are a charity which offers support to families when a baby dies before or shortly after birth; allowing them to share their experiences with other bereaved parents.
Having lost our own baby daughter ‘Scarlett’ Stillborn at 39 weeks three years ago on the 15th December 2009, it’s a charity very close to my own heart. While there are many layers to bereavement, my Love for photography was one of the positive outlets that helped me through the healing process. As such photography will always be part of my life.
So last weekend on a cold February in 2013, we visited the Ashford Baby Memorial Garden to place some tiles onto a special mosaic which is the centerpiece for a the garden memorial.
The mosaic was designed and crafted by Jo Letchford (of Jo Letchford Mosaics in Folkestone Kent) which has been based on the Sands logo. With the Memorial Garden project being the brainchild of Emma Oram (Kent Sands) who, after losing her baby son, wanted to provide a special place for the many families touched by the death of a baby.
An incredible amount of effort has been made and continues to be made into seeing this project through from the beginning.
